Your article is very informative and deserves a wide readership. We Episcopalians, for instance, are wondering about our future, along with all the other churches.

I think you should adopt Troetsch's typology, however. The word "sect" denotes a religious community that considers itself as apart from the world, while "church" denotes a religious community open to the wider world. Finally, the "mystical" is a looser community pursuing personal experiences of the Holy.

In this perspective, your use of "sect" is pejorative.
