Not sure what you mean by no controversy... surely Paul rebukes certain people in I Corinthians 15. Not to mention the circumcision controversy. If a gentile has to first become a Jew to be a Christian, then the crucifixion and resurrection of the Son of God is not transformative by itself.

But it's true that Paul does not defend his Christology with argument. Interesting observation!
