Does anyone think there are people who live perfectly as followers of Jesus, i.e., "saints"? And do one's failings cancel what they write? Karl Barth for instance is still a seminal theologian, even though he was a polyamorist. Every person in the saints calendar is flawed, often very deeply. That is not why they are revered.

On the other hand, we keep no calendar of those assumed to be in hell. After all, I might figure on it some day...
