By "cyclical" I think you mean that theologies engage in circular reasoning. However, you are doing the same thing. "Why is there something rather than nothing?" "Because there is."
The real issue in the faith vs science pseudodrama is the notion of god. The Pastafarians and their Flying Spaghetti Monster present a parody of inserting a personal god into the universe. But it is also a parody of the thinking you advocate. As Karl Rahner once remarked, "God is not a datum of the universe." Start with that and the issue becomes a lot more interesting than a bunch of turtles stacked on top of each other.
