Another fine article, Tim, except that the multiverse cannot be observed and is therefore pure speculation, not science (scientific speculation). And it seems to be yet another attempt to get around God as an answer to why there is something rather than nothing...

Not that I think science needs God to fill in blanks, although humans and everything else depends on the divine Being by participation in it...if one believes (and believes Thomas Aquinas as well). Still, that's no explanation, just a description, a good one.
