A very useful and yes thoughtful article!

I am the co-author of a book we call "Attentive, Intelligent, Rational, Responsible". This is a tagline for Bernard Lonergan's "general empirical method" that seeks to help people discover their thinking. Paying attention to a phenomenon (writ large; a text, a stone, etc.) can elicit a question, "what is it?" Once the question is asked, insights occur, and they need to be considered valid or not. Once a hypothesis arises, intelligence moves to rationality, with the question "is that so?" If it can be verified, then the thinker needs to take responsibility for what she has figured out.

For Lonergan, start here: https://utorontopress.com/9780802034557/insight-volume-3/

Note that there 25 volumes!
